The Studio
Every Spring. Every Detail.
Three rooms of original apparatus, all chosen for one reason: to teach Pilates as it was intended.

The Method
What is Contrology?
Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1883–1967) never called his work “Pilates.” He called it Contrology: the art of controlling the body with the mind, building strength, flexibility and balance through precise, flowing movement and deliberate breath.
Today the word Pilates is used for many different workouts, and not all of them resemble what Joseph taught. At Pilates On Fifth, we teach his original exercises, in his original order, on the original apparatus he designed.
