What is Classical Pilates?
Classical Pilates is the original system Joseph Pilates developed in the early 20th century. It follows a set sequence of exercises on the mat and on apparatus like the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair and Barrels, with a focus on core strength, control, precision and breath.
What is the difference between Pilates and Contrology?
There is no difference in the method itself. Joseph Pilates called his system Contrology, and the name Pilates came to be used for it later. Today “Pilates” describes everything from the original exercises to modern fitness classes that borrow only parts of them. At Pilates On Fifth, we teach the original Contrology exercises in the order Joseph Pilates intended.
Do I need experience?
No. Classical Pilates meets you where you are today. The apparatus supports your body weight and guides you through each movement, so it’s safe for complete beginners.
What should I wear?
Fitted, comfortable athletic clothing without buttons or zippers, which can catch in the springs or tear the upholstery. Grip socks are welcome, and bare feet are fine too.
How do I book?
Book online from the Schedule page, or call us at 321-312-0715 during business hours. After hours, leave a message and we will call back to confirm.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please cancel at least 24 hours ahead. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.
What is the difference between group, private and semi-private?
Group (up to 6): the most affordable option, with community energy. Private: fully customized to your goals and alignment. Semi-private (2–3): more individual coaching than a group class at a lower cost than a private.
