PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher
After years of running, cycling, weight-lifting, spinning, and experiencing vast injuries, Denise Miller felt the need to try something different. She started taking Pilates classes and immediately connected with the method. Not only did she feel it to be therapeutic, but challenging in a way that was very deep intrinsically. After experiencing how healing, and powerful Pilates made her feel she wanted to share it with others and so her Pilates journey began. She trained to become a Pilates instructor and then went on to take the Pilates Method Alliance exam, becoming PMA certified.
She enjoys instructing group classes; adding high energy and challenging clients beyond their own perceived limits, all with a bit of added humor, while keeping a serious focus on the method. Form is a very important element of the method, and so she instructs with an emphasis on proper body mechanics in a fun cohesive environment. Along with group classes, she also instructs private sessions.
Authentic Pilates Guild™ Certified Instructor | PMA™ Certified Pilates Instructor
In 1997, Sally Baker became Guild Certified in Authentic Pilates™ by Master Teacher Romana Kryzanowska, protege of Joseph Pilates and practitioner of the method for over 60 years.
For six years following her certification, Sally was director and head instructor of InterHealth Pilates in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Prior to relocating to Brevard County in November 2015, Sally resided in Ithaca, NY where she operated a private Pilates practice. Her practice included collaborating with orthopedists, pain management specialists, physical therapists, and chiropractors on a client referral basis. She has had the pleasure of working with professional athletes, musicians, dancers and even Hollywood stars.
Sally is well versed in teaching clients to understand and apply the Authentic™ Pilates principles in their daily lives. She brings a high level of commitment to her clients and is personally involved in helping them realize their goals.
Karen Shelley started her journey with Pilates while working as a Marketing Director for a Health and Wellness Studio. Already passionate about health and fitness, she wanted to help others see the advantages of incorporating fitness into their daily routine. The studio offered Classical Pilates as a means for fitness as well as Physical Therapy.
After years of practice herself and seeing the positive results of the clients, Karen started to work towards her certification. Now Karen teaches Basic and Intermediate group classes as well as private session at Pilates On Fifth.
Nearly a native to Florida, Chrissie moved to Indialantic, FL almost 40 years ago. From triathlons to marathons, yoga to Crossfit, Chrissie has been active in the exercise community all her life. She was starting to experience some joint pain and a friend of hers (also an instructor at Pilates On Fifth) invited her take a class. She had never taken a classic Pilates class nor knew much about the practice. After her first class she was hooked. The core strengthening and deep stretching was just what her body needed.
Within just a month of practicing at the studio she felt herself sitting taller at her desk at work, stronger in her workouts and less joint pain overall. She believed in the practice so much that she decided to take a deeper dive and become certified. One of things Chrissie likes most about Pilates is that it's a workout for all ages, all levels, all body types. She encourages anyone to come take a class or two and be the judge for themselves.
